Bring ‘em on: Assassination attempt in Baghdad against deputy governor of Baquba province. One Iraqi killed and 15 wounded. I don’t think the insurgents like this guy. This is the second time they’ve tried to whack him in two weeks.

The GOP's $87 billion War Profiteer’s Relief Act of 2003 is ready for Bush’s signature. “The final version of the $87 billion spending bill for Iraq and Afghanistan is missing provisions the Senate had passed to penalize war profiteers who defraud American taxpayers. House negotiators on the package refused to accept the Senate provisions.”

Analysis: "But, strangely enough, President George Bush interpreted these attacks as a sign of progress because “they show the desperation of those who oppose the US-led occupation”. He believes that the more successful the Americans are on the ground, the more they will be attacked. This interpretation explains many things: it shows his team’s ignorance of the facts on the ground and the psychology of the Iraqis and of Muslims. Each successful attack is celebrated and considered an act blessed by God against those who are occupying their country."
